Barcelona are reportedly prepared to make a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa.
Ruben Amorim pushed Rashford out of his first team plans due to concerns over the Englishman’s work ethic.
Unai Emery took a chance on the 27-year-old, who agreed to move to Villa on a six-month loan deal in January. The Lions have an option to buy him permanently for £40 million (€46.6m) at the end of the season.
Rashford has seemingly rediscovered his confidence in Birmingham, having had a direct hand in nine goals — three goals and six assists — in 16 appearances, including an incredible assist against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
However, his form at Villa has sparked interest from Barcelona ahead of the summer.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona have set their sights on Rashford and are readying a €40 million offer to secure his services.
Barca were also linked with the England international in January but they never made a concrete approach.
It appears Rashford’s performances under Emery have convinced the Blaugrana to launch a bid for the United outcast.
Given Hansi Flick has Europe’s best left-winger, Raphinha at his disposal, it would be interesting to see what his plans are for Rashford, who is capable of playing across the frontline but primarily thrives as a left-winger.
Convincing Rashford is not expected to be a major hurdle for the Catalan outfit as the Spanish outlet claim Rashford “dreams” of playing for Barcelona.
Further, it is suggested that United could “seriously consider” €40m offer for Rashford.
Considering the way he left Old Trafford, the United academy product has no future under Amorim so a permanent separation is best for all parties involved.
Interestingly, there’s a possibility another academy graduate may return to United. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Mancunians are one of the clubs monitoring Anthony Elanga, who is enjoying a prolific campaign at Nottingham Forest.
