Ruben Amorim says Victor Lindelof and Noussair Mazraoui are available for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Wolves at Old Trafford.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, immediately after last night’s extraordinary 7-6 aggregate victory over Lyon, Amorim was first asked about Wolves’ resurgence under new manager and fellow Portuguese, Vitor Pereira.

“I think he’s doing an amazing job,” he said. “He’s playing 3-4-3. He’s doing quite well. He’s changing some players. He has really quality players, [Matheus] Cunha and all these guys, they have real quality, they are fresh, so we know that it’s going to be a tough match and we’ll need a lot from our supporters.

Amorim was then asked how much of a change to his quad he intends to make. He had said in the Lyon post-match presser that he would rest players.

“I have to see it. Players like Dalot, they are always ready but today he was really tired. The guys who are at risk of having an injury, we will save them. So we will see tomorrow.”

Asked if he believes the “kids” are ready, he said:

“I think it’s not the best moment or the best season to put some kids to play, because again they need a strong base to really show what they can do. But in this moment, we need to do it, and sometimes you have surprises.

“Ayden just played and I can be honest, because we had a lot of injuries in that moment. But today, I think Ayden is my player. So when he’s ready, he’s facing the competition to play, so you don’t know.

“Amass did really well today. So we don’t know.

“Chido, when he played, he played quite well. So we don’t know, it’s not the right moment for the kids to play, but if they have to do it, we will do it.”

The next question referred to Victor Lindelof, who had looked to be coming on at half time against Lyon, only to be withdrawn, along with Noussair Mazraoui, due to “personal issues.” The reporter asked if the Swede would be available for Sunday.

“He’s available. He has personal issues, like Nouss, so we had to let them go, but everything is OK now, but I know that football is really important but there are things that are more important. But they’ll be ready to face the next game.”

Asked whether Chido Obi will get more minutes, Amorim replied “yes, I think so.”

Pressed on the nature of Mazraoui and Lindelof’s personal issues and whether they came to light during last night’s game, the boss said:

“Yes, both during the game. Sometimes you don’t control these things and everything happened this season! But everything is OK now.”

The next question was how happy Amorim was with Andre Onana’s performance.

“I think he did really well, so he did a good game. He has to continue to do good games. I’m really happy for him, because it was a tough moment but let’s move forward. Now he has to be ready for the next games.”

The next question was about Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. The player has said he wants to move to a bigger club and Amorim had mentioned him, above.

“I just gave the example because I just remember about Matheus, he’s scoring a lot of goals, just that.”
