According to Marca, Atletico Madrid are interested in the prospect of bringing Thomas Partey back from Arsenal this summer.
The Ghana international joined the Gunners from Atletico back in 2020, and since then, he’s gone on to make a total of 160 appearances for the North London club in all competitions, scoring nine goals and contributing seven assists. Playing predominantly as a defensive midfielder, Partey has often been forced to step in and cover for injured players elsewhere in the pitch, mostly in the back line, even though he has had injury problems himself.
Though his versatility is obviously a great asset for manager Mikel Arteta, the 31-year-old can hardly consider himself a regular starter at the Emirates. And with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it remains to be seen if he’d be interested in carrying on with a part-time role for Arsenal or prefer to return to the Wanda Metropolitano to play under Diego Simeone again.
