Rams Re-Sign Linebacker Troy Reeder To One-Year Contract

The Los Angeles Rams announced that they have re-signed linebacker Troy Reeder on a one-year contract. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Reeder has spent five of his six NFL seasons with the Rams, originally joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware in 2019.

In 2023, Reeder appeared in all 17 games for the Rams, starting six and finishing the year 23 tackles. He was a big part of the Rams’ defense in 2020 and 2021, helping the team on its run to the Super Bowl. In those two years, he totaled 172 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, eight passes defended and two interceptions.

Following the 2021 season, Reeder would sign with the Los Angeles Chargers, but served only a minor role before returning to the Rams in 2023.

Similar to this offseason, the Rams signed Reeder to a one-year contract last offseason, although he wound up only playing in six games, starting all of them, recording 46 total tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defensed. Unfortunately, Reeder suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 and wound up missing the rest of the season, including the postseason.

The linebacker position has been one of focus for the Rams in free agency as they lost starter Christian Rozeboom, who signed with the Carolina Panthers.

They have 2024 undrafted free agent Omar Speights, who came on in the second half of last season and projects to be a starter. The depth behind him needed to be addressed though and the Rams did exactly that by bringing back a familiar face in Reeder as well as inking former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Nate Landman to a one-year deal.

The Rams still could address the linebacker position in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they typically don’t like devoting significant resources there and now they don’t have to after signing Reeder and Landman.

Returning to Rams was top priority for Tutu Atwell

One of the Rams’ other offseason moves was re-signing wide receiver Tutu Atwell to a one-year contract, and he explained why returning to L.A. was his top priority.

“It feels great, man. Them giving me this contract means everything, because they believed in me and they see what I did in the past years,” Atwell said Tuesday. “But always just did my part when my number was called and made the most of the opportunities that I had. I appreciate them, and just ready and looking forward to this season.”
