The Philadelphia Eagles are suddenly now eligible to be featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks training camp series.

NFL teams were previously exempt from being forced to participate in the show if they met at least one of the three following conditions:

They have a first-year head coach.
They made the playoffs in either of the last two years.
They appeared on Hard Knocks within the last 10 years.

The league changed those conditions this year, however:

NFL chief media and business officer Brian Rolapp mentioned on Monday how the league has liberalized its rules for Hard Knocks. Here is the full rule—the “non-playoff” requirement has been removed to compel a team.

As such, the Eagles are now one of 20 teams eligible to be selected as this year’s training camp subject.

That is, unless they’re already slated to be part of the in-season edition if the NFC East is selected to be this year’s featured division.

While some fans might enjoy the special behind-the-scenes access (which will likely still be limited if the 2019 Amazon feature series on the Eagles was any indication), others will view the extra cameras and spotlight as a distraction.
