Jannik Sinner will be able to return to compete on the professional tour in about a month, when he will be welcomed like a king by his fans at the Rome Masters 1000. The world number 1 – who has not played since his triumph at the Australian Open at the end of January – has reached an agreement with WADA for a three-month ban and has accepted that he must stay away from the sport he loves avoiding getting to the trial in front of the CAS in Lausanne.

Despite this suspension, his top opponents such as Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz have not achieved brilliant results so far and the Italian ace is practically certain to remain at the top of the ATP rankings until his return in May.

The 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria has used this period above all to recharge his batteries and work from an athletic point of view, where he still has room for improvement. In particular, the 3-time Grand Slam champion was able to do numerous specific jobs in Monte Carlo together with his fitness coach Marco Panichi.

Darren Cahill is about to arrive in the Principality, as Jannik will return to practice on the tennis court shortly in view of the Rome Masters 1000. Sinner has also decided to play the Hamburg tournament before Roland Garros, in order to arrive in perfect shape at the second Major of the season.

Sinner is almost ready

Meanwhile, the Italian star gave a long interview to ‘Sky Sport Italy’ in which he revealed his feelings. He had never spoken after the news of his ban.

“I feel good, I have had the opportunity to rest and train during this time. Obviously I would have preferred to play tennis, but I’m not thinking too much about this thing now” – confessed the world number 1, protagonist of an amazing rise in the last year and a half.

The 23-year-old Italian confirmed that he will return to compete in Rome: “Every day I feel better, even if the date of my return is not so close yet. See you in Rome.”
