Bayern Munich will not let injuries hold them back as they go “full throttle” in their bid to regain the Bundesliga title, Vincent Kompany pledged ahead of their trip to Augsburg.

With 65 points from 27 games, Bayern hold a six-point advantage over defending champions Bayer Leverkusen.

They have won one of their last three Bundesliga matches, though, losing to lowly Bochum and drawing at Union Berlin before a narrow 3-2 win over St Pauli last week.

They are also likely to be without left-back Alphonso Davies and centre-back Dayot Upamecano for the rest of the season, while fellow defender Hiroki Ito suffered a metatarsal fracture last week.

Despite those setbacks, Kompany has backed his side to stay the course in their seven remaining games.

“We have a few options for the full-back position. You can also get creative. The important thing is that we have confidence and it doesn’t change the fact that we have to go full throttle. We want to win,” Kompany said of Bayern’s injury problems.

“During the international break, we had time to look ahead. You think about how you want to approach these upcoming games, but then we had three fresh injuries. What I want is for the lads to stay fit and then we will get the results.”

The Opta supercomputer currently assigns Bayern a 95% chance of securing the title, with Leverkusen given a 5% probability.

Kompany named defender Sacha Boey as a player that could fill in. The 24-year-old has made 12 appearances for Bayern since arriving from Galatasaray last year.

“Sacha is a player who loves playing on the right. He’s fit and definitely an option, and he’ll get his minutes in the coming weeks,” he said.

“He was in a good position before his injury and hopefully he’ll show his qualities again. We have six players who have regularly played at full-back. It’s important that they stay fit.”

Bayern have collected more points this season than they had at this stage of any campaign since 2017-18, when they had 66 points after 27 matches.

However, they have already conceded as many goals in the second half of the season as they did in the entire first half of the campaign (13).

They are now in danger of going five league games without a clean sheet for the first time under Kompany, whereas Augsburg – unbeaten in 11 Bundesliga games – have only conceded four league goals in 2025, the fewest in Europe’s top five leagues.

After the Augsburg trip, Bayern host Serie A leaders Inter in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday
