Marc Gene believes “Lewis Hamilton has no more doubts about his speed and feels less pressure”

A Sprint that brings hope After Ferrari’s decidedly underwhelming debut performance in Australia, it was widely believed that China could already be a key moment to assess the early-season prospects for the Maranello team. And the Sprint pole on Friday and the victory in Saturday’s Sprint race brought a breath of fresh air for the team and fans alike. Even the gap in qualifying (with Lewis Hamilton in fifth, 0.286 seconds behind Oscar Piastri) is acceptable compared to what was seen in Melbourne.

Marc Gené’s analysis “I’m surprised. We all thought McLaren had a faster car in the race in terms of tire management. Everyone in the paddock was talking about that. But for Ferrari—and in this case, Lewis Hamilton—to be the fastest, well, that wasn’t even in our predictions,” commented Ferrari ambassador Marc Gené to Dazn Spain.

The former Formula 1 driver then spoke in detail about Lewis Hamilton: “I’m getting to know him, or rather, observing him these days. Especially in briefings. The way he speaks, the way he communicates… Confidence is something all drivers need, and perhaps that was what he particularly lacked last year.”

Marc Gené went even deeper into his analysis: “Now Hamilton has no doubts about his speed. Even in Australia, despite the negative weekend, he wasn’t too unhappy because he was almost as fast as Charles, and for a driver, that’s important. Of course, winning is necessary, and he did it. Now, he has taken a lot of pressure off himself,” concluded the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours winner.
