Marcos Baghdatis drops bombshell Novak Djokovic prediction for 2025

Marcos Baghdatis thinks Novak Djokovic’s big goal for 2025 is to make a run “for his last Wimbledon” and that’s one of the reasons why the current world No. 5 brought in Andy Murray to assist him.

Since collecting his 24th Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open, the Serb’s Major dominance has diminished as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are now the dominant faces at the Slam level. And while the 37-year-old has had some decent Slam campaigns since then, he hasn’t managed to get over the hump and the general feeling is that he is now a step behind the Italian and the Spaniard.

And considering Djokovic’s track record at Wimbledon, Baghdatis suspects that’s the tournament that the former world No. 1 has circled on his calendar as the one that gives him the best shot at becoming the first-ever male or female player with 25 Grand Slams.

Baghdatis thinks Djokovic may play his last Wimbledon this year

“He is more complete than the others, tennis-wise also … I think Djokovic will go for his last Wimbledon this year. I think that is his goal. Having Murray behind him is one of the reasons to get the crowd with him. I don’t know, but when Novak aims for something, most of the time he gets it,” the Cypriot tennis legend told Tennishead.

Since celebrating his first victory at The Championships in 2011, Djokovic has had six more triumphant runs. In his last six Wimbledon campaigns, the Serb has reached as many finals. But after winning it all for four consecutive years, the former world No. 1 picked up back-to-back final losses to Alcaraz in 2023 and 2024.

Djokovic maybe didn’t have an answer for Alcaraz at The Championships in the last few years but he is undoubtedly still a strong force there and he definitely won’t be counted out on grass even if he doesn’t play his best in the next couple of months.
