RB Ashton Jeanty Has ‘Supporters’ Within Organization

The Las Vegas Raiders have been active this offseason in looking to re-make their offense under new head coach Pete Carroll. The team has already dealt for quarterback Geno Smith to take over under center, but improving the run game is also a huge need. One of the top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft is Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

The Heisman Trophy runner-up put together one of the best seasons in college football history. He nearly broke Barry Sanders’ record for rushing yards in a season with 2,601 to go along with a ridiculous 29 touchdowns. He averaged just under 186 rushing yards per game last year and seven yards per carry, and despite the position being devalued by some, Jeanty could very well be a top-10 pick.

Perhaps that pick will be number 6 to the Raiders as Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports that the Raiders still want to add some offensive firepower this offseason and Jeanty has some supporters within the organization:

The Raiders, meanwhile, are certainly not done adding offensive weaponry to build around all-world rookie tight end Brock Bowers, and with the No. 6 pick in the draft, there is a contingent of Ashton Jeanty supporters within the organization.

The Raiders’ interest in Jeanty makes a lot of sense, as they badly need to shore up their ground game. The Raiders ranked dead last in rushing yards and yards per attempt last season, and Jeanty should immediately be able to step in and help on that front. The question is whether the Raiders are best served using such a high pick on a running back.

If the Raiders are intent on adding more offensive firepower in the draft, they could also take a long look at Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who has totaled over 2,700 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns over the past two seasons and would give Smith another weapon through the air and take some attention away from star tight end Brock Bowers. But a Pete Carroll offense is always centered around the ground game so it wouldn’t be too surprising if the Raiders see Jeanty as the perfect fit.

Raiders agree to one-year deal with RB Raheem Mostert

The Raiders have already moved to help improve their rushing attack, agreeing to a one-year deal with Raheem Mostert, who spent the last three seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

Mostert is an excellent weapon to have as part of a committee, and his speed will give the Raiders another element to use in their revamped offense. However, it does not prevent them from adding a back like Jeanty in the upcoming draft.
