Chargers Predicted To Give Justin Herbert Another ‘Dynamic Playmaker’ By Selecting 25-TD WR in 1st Round of 2025 NFL Draft

The Los Angeles Chargers need more offensive weapons. Last season, Justin Herbert’s second playoff appearance didn’t go as expected. With four interceptions, he struggled, and the Chargers’ already inconsistent offense had one of its worst performances of the year.

So far this offseason, Los Angeles hasn’t made significant changes, but that could shift with the 2025 NFL Draft, where a deep class of playmakers could help upgrade the roster. One analyst believes that revitalization begins in the first round, with the Chargers targeting a dynamic wide receiver.

Los Angeles Chargers Predicted to Pair Ladd McConkey With Another Superstar WR

The Chargers have been relatively quiet when it comes to adding offensive weapons. Losing Joshua Palmer was a setback, but they attempted to replace him with Mike Williams. Their biggest move was acquiring Najee Harris, who has rushed for over 1,000 yards every year of his NFL career.

Still, the team needs to lean more on Justin Herbert to improve an offense that ranked 17th on PFSN’s Offense+ metric. That means finding key pass catchers is a priority, and PFSN may have the answer.

In the latest mock draft from PFSN, Jim Harbaugh has Los Angeles selecting Luther Burden III with the 22nd overall pick. NFL analyst Anthony Pasciolla outlined why the Chamusteed prioritized skill-positioning players on offense.

“There’s a plethora of options for the Los Angeles Chargers to find talent on the outside to pair alongside Ladd McConkey, but the longer they wait, the more likely it is that the draft will be the primary route to find said player.”

On Burden, Pasciolla added:

“Luther Burden III is not the most physically polarizing receiving threat, but he is a dynamic playmaker capable of creating plenty of separation.”

While Burden wasn’t fully healthy in 2024, he showed serious potential in 2023, tallying 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns for the Missouri Tigers. A dual-threat weapon, he has already racked up 25 career touchdowns, including four rushing scores.

For Los Angeles, those numbers would be a major boost. Last season, outside of McConkey, no Chargers receiver topped 750 yards. The team also struggled to find the end zone, finishing with just 23 receiving touchdowns.

At 5’11” and 208 pounds, Burden has the size to impact every snap. His ability to separate from defenders should make him a favorite target for Herbert. The Chargers need to put the right pieces around their franchise QB, and the Missouri star would be an ideal addition to their roster.
