The Philadelphia Eagles signed starting right tackle Lane Johnson to a one-year contract extension through the 2027 season, according to an official team announcement.

Here are some details on the new deal, via NFL insider Adam Schefter:

Johnson has reworked his contract to add $8 million dollars over the next two years, and an additional $30 million in guarantees, per his agent Ken Sarnoff from 1 of 1 Agency. The soon-to-be 35-year-old Johnson now will earn $48 million over the next two years, including $40 million guaranteed. […] In the end, Eagles All-Pro RT Lane Johnson added one year at $25 million to his deal and he now is under contract through the 2027 season.

The Eagles previously rewarded Saquon Barkley with a contract extension earlier this month. This new deal for Johnson seems to be a similar kind of reward. After all, he’s now a two-time Super Bowl champion who was arguably the best starting blocker on those Vince Lombardi Trophy-winning offensive lines.

Days after winning Super Bowl LIX, Johnson tweeted that he was “looking forward to many more years to come” with the Eagles. Now this contract extension confirms that he intends on playing for at least a few more seasons.

And that’s very good news for the Eagles since the best right tackle in the NFL has shown no signs of slowing down.
