The week that broke Manchester United’s season – Man United News And Transfer News

‘I went bananas after winning the League Cup, throwing champagne, while the senior players were like, ‘Bosh, onto the next game’. They were such winners’ What Ben Foster learned about Manchester United’s winning mentality

Arsenal remain firmly in the race for Ajax prodigy Jorrel Hato, with Mikel Arteta’s side continuing to monitor the highly-rated 19-year-old defender ahead of the summer transfer window. Despite having an abundance of left-sided defensive options, the Gunners seem unwilling to let go of their long-standing interest in the Dutch talent.

According to TBR, Arsenal’s scouting team has kept close tabs on Hato, positioning themselves as a serious contender for his signature. However, they face stiff competition, with Liverpool and Real Madrid also showing keen interest. While many believed the Gunners had cooled their pursuit, their groundwork in previous windows could now give them an edge in the race.

Arsenal’s Left-Back Conundrum

At first glance, a move for Hato might raise eyebrows among Arsenal fans. The club already boasts multiple left-back options, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, and Jurrien Timber, who has played there when needed. Additionally, the emergence of teenage sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly has complicated matters, with the youngster impressing Arteta and earning key starts ahead of Riccardo Calafiori, the Italian defender signed last summer.

However, Arsenal’s interest in Hato makes more sense when considering potential summer departures. Kieran Tierney is set to rejoin Celtic, while both Zinchenko and Kiwior could be sold, leaving a significant gap in the squad. Lewis-Skelly, meanwhile, is seen as a long-term midfield option rather than a permanent solution at left-back.

Why Arsenal See Hato as a Key Signing

Hato isn’t just another left-back—he’s a versatile defender capable of playing centrally as well. With Arteta emphasising tactical flexibility, the Dutchman’s ability to slot into multiple roles makes him an ideal fit for Arsenal’s evolving system.

While Liverpool and Real Madrid are also circling, Arsenal’s early groundwork could prove decisive. If the expected defensive departures materialise, a move for Hato could be more than just an option—it could be a necessity.

With the summer transfer window approaching, the Gunners’ pursuit of Jorrel Hato could be one of the more intriguing sagas to watch. Will Arsenal push ahead to secure their long-term defensive target, or will competition from Europe’s elite force them to look elsewhere?
