Popping On The National Scene: Eight Texas Players to Watch This Spring.

We are at the final pages of the book of the 2024-2025 scholastic season (i.e. high school) and this upcoming weekend, we will evaluate our first Texas club basketball events.

This article highlights 2026 (rising seniors) prospects in the Lone Star State that can help their recruiting stock and/or put themselves more on the national map. I won’t mention the travel ball team they are on or projected to be because not all on this list have announced who they are playing for.

5-Star Status Push

Austin Goosby, 6’6 Guard – MelissaA high end 4-Star prospect that can place himself on the verge of a 5-Star player. Goosby is a 6’6 guard that can play on and off the ball. Long term I do see him as a combo guard that can play the 3-spot in three guard line-ups, but I do think a summer where he can show his offensive versatility at a higher volume will get him where he wants.

Davion Adkins, 6’9 Forward – Oak Cliff Faith FamilyGot better this season and truthfully that’s because he’s played more to his strengths than he ever has (and stayed out of foul trouble). A big-time athletic lefty forward that’s also on the high-end, 4- Star status, but a spring-summer that mirrors his scholastic campaign can put him in contention for 5-Star status.

Dakari Spear, 6’4 Shooting Guard – The ColonyDakari has always been in the top tier of the list of best 2026’s in Texas. A scoring off-guard that is a better play-maker than given credit for. Also, he’s a three-level scorer that plays with a lot of poise. Could see him make an even bigger leap after the Summer.

Billy White, 6’8 Forward – Corpus Christi Veterans MemorialBilly is someone that keeps rising on the national scene and there’s a lot to like in his game. Really shoots it and needs minimal space to launch and connect his shots. White has grown as a rebounder and his motor on the defensive end has seen an uptick in the past year. Someone of his prototype, if they are shooting at a high clip and rebounding, will see an even bigger leap in the number beside his name.

Elijah Williams, 6’6 Wing – TMIA highly skilled wing with a strong frame. Williams uses frame and strength to generate space on his drives and holds clean shot mechanics. Has had to shoulder a lot of the offensive load for TMI and I think we will see more of his skill-set this club season.

Hello My Name Is…

Austin Brown, 6’8 SF – LufkinA skilled forward with good positional size. Brown can dribble, pass and shoot it well. He’s gotten tougher as well. Just playing and rebounding through contact, Brown has seen a positive bump (no pun intended). If Brown can showcase his long range shooting combined with shot creating and a touch of playmaking, he’ll see his name pop up on the national services.

Seven Spurlock, 6’5 Wing – Prolific PrepWas someone that was talked about early, but things seemed to have calmed down over the past two years. Seven will play for YGC (Puma PRo16 Program) and expect to see him more with the ball in his hands, which is why I was intrigued by him when he was younger. He has developed as someone that can guard multiple positions, rebound well for size and play with motor. If he can add the newly added tools with his handle and passing acumen, Spurlock can get back on the radar.

Bryce Howard, 6’5 Wing – Frisco HeritageSon of former NBA All-Star Josh Howard, Bryce is kind of a late bloomer like his father was. He’s a long, athletic wing equipped with adequate strength. Very good in transition and as a slasher. Defends multiple spots and offensively, Howard game continues to grow. His best basketball is ahead of him, but I think he’ll be an impact player in the EYBL this year and could see his name in the top 150 by summer’s end.

Cam Lomax, 6’1 CG – Frisco HeritageTeammate of Howard, Lomax is an athletic bucket-getter that can score it in bunches. A regular visitor to the paint and has an array of ways to finish vs. length and contact. I envision Lomax having multiple explosive and loud scoring outings in the EYBL that can result in the number beside his named on the national recruiting services rise.
