As expected, the Seattle Seahawks have not retained veteran offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson.

The 2015 first-round pick has agreed to a contract with the Houston Texans that’s worth up to $5 million, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo.

Tomlinson began his career with the Detroit Lions before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he went to a Super Bowl in 2019 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021. A two-year stint with the New York Jets soon followed before he was released as a salary cap casualty.

The Seahawks signed Tomlinson last offseason as the immediate successor to incumbent left guard Damien Lewis, who signed a big contract with the Carolina Panthers in free agency. As ever, Tomlinson played virtually every snap and continued his ironman streak of not missing a game since 2017. Unfortunately, the whole of the Seahawks interior line struggled mightily throughout the season, Tomlinson included.

Houston is significantly remaking its offensive line after releasing starting right guard Shaq Mason, trading left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders, and trading former first-round pick Kenyon Green to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Meanwhile, Seattle’s search for stability at the guard position continues.
