Holding a remarkable 15-point buffer at the top of the Premier League table, Liverpool are cruising their way to this season’s crown and have embarked on a sensational rise since Arne Slot’s arrival at Anfield last summer.
Although many around the red half of Merseyside might have been heartbroken last year following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, the champions-elect have continued to break a string of records under the guidance of the former Feyenoord boss.
However, while Liverpool might be dreaming of completing a famous double-winning campaign this season, Slot will already have one eye on the summer transfer window.
Alongside Mohamed Salah’s on-going contract saga behind the scenes, it has been suggested that the Dutch tactician is looking to push out a number of his first-team stars ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
In what could prove to be a busy summer at Anfield, we have taken a look at some of the Liverpool superstars who could be set for a blockbuster move away from Merseyside.
Caoimhin Kelleher
Doing a stellar job of deputising for the injured Alisson Becker at the back end of 2024, Caoimhin Kelleher has quickly transformed into one of the Premier League’s hottest goalkeeping commodities.
However, once again firmly sat behind Alisson and knowing that he is unlikely to ever cement his spot as Slot’s permeant number one choice, the Ireland international has accepted that his future lies away from Anfield.
Not making a single Premier League appearance since opening the New Year, Kelleher has made it clear that he is seeking regular first-team action going forward.
Set to enter the final 12 months of his current deal this summer, the 26-year-old is attracting plenty of interest as has been heavily linked with Premier League rivals Newcastle and Chelsea.
With Liverpool reportedly making Kelleher aware that they are willing to sanction a move away from Merseyside this summer, the Reds are open to accepting an offer in the region of £30million.
Darwin Nunez
While Darwin Nunez might have drawn a line under his 10-match drought last weekend after finding the net during Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Southampton, the Uruguayan international has real question marks over his future at Anfield past the summer.
Although the Reds might have splashed out a record-breaking £64million for the ex-Benfica starlet back in June 2022, Nunez has largely failed to repay to hefty transfer fee and has often become a figure of ridicule.
With Slot publicly making his frustrations with the 25-year-old clear last month, it has also been suggested that the former Feyenoord boss has a new number nine at the top of his summer wishlist.
Notching just five Premier League goals this season and making his a single start since Boxing Day, it has also been reported that Nunez is now open to a permanent move away from Anfield.
With it suggested that the misfiring striker earns in the region of £140,00-per-week, the likes of Barcelona and Juventus have been linked with a potential swoop when they window reopens.
Federico Chiesa
While Federico Chiesa might have completed a late dramatic move to Anfield last summer for an initial fee of £10million, the Italian international has endured a real nightmare on Merseyside.
Despite eventually staying put during the January transfer window after hefty speculation over an immediate Premier League exit, the former Juventus ace has drastically failed to make any kind of impact this season.
Not making a single appearance since Liverpool’s infamous FA Cup exit away at Championship strugglers Plymouth on February 9th, Chiesa has been an unused substitute in each of Slot’s last six matchday squads.
Dealing with injury setbacks and clearly not part of Slot’s long-term plans at Anfield, the 27-year-old has remarkably made just a trio of Premier League appearances this season.
Although Chiesa might have stated that he intends to fight for his place with the Premier League giants, it appears that Liverpool are looking to cut their loses and an immediate Serie A return could be on the cards.
