World Cup winner could join Inter Miami with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez ahead of Club World Cup

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in June, has become a major objective for Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Inter Miami this season. In a bid to strengthen the squad ahead of the prestigious tournament, the Florida side could land a World Cup-winning midfielder before the competition kicks off.

One of the main concerns among fans — and even voiced by Suarez himself — has been the Major League Soccer (MLS) regulations that limit Inter Miami’s ability to build a highly competitive squad for the Club World Cup. However, a unique market opportunity could now allow the club to make a significant addition.

According to RMC Sport, Inter Miami has emerged as one of the strongest options for Paul Pogba to return to professional soccer. The 2018 World Cup winner with France will be eligible to play once his suspension ends on Tuesday, March 11th, giving Inter Miami the chance to secure his services without delay.

Pogba has previously been spotted attending Inter Miami matches at Chase Stadium, including games against Charlotte FC and Atlanta United last year. With Pogba and his family already residing in Miami, this factor could play a pivotal role in convincing him to restart his career with the MLS side.

The French midfielder was also seen at Inter Miami’s MLS season opener, where he reunited with co-owner David Beckham, with whom he shares a strong relationship. With the MLS transfer window open until April 23rd and Leonardo Campana’s recent departure, Inter Miami has a Designated Player (DP) spot available — giving them the flexibility to offer Pogba a lucrative contract.

Few European options for Pogba

Following the reduction of his ban, Pogba has been linked to several clubs, though few solid options have emerged in Europe. The most notable interest came from Olympique de Marseille, with both the club’s president and coach Roberto De Zerbi expressing admiration for the midfielder.

However, Ligue 1 regulations prevent clubs from signing free agents during the second half of the season, creating a significant hurdle for Marseille. Additionally, with European clubs approaching the decisive stage of their campaigns, signing a player who hasn’t played competitively since 2023 presents a major risk.

During a Twitch stream with AmineMaTue, Pogba addressed rumors of a potential reunion with his friend Memphis Depay at Brazilian side Corinthians. When asked about the possibility, Pogba laughed and said: “Nothing, zero! I play for the love of soccer.”

Despite his remarks, a move to Brazil appears unlikely. The MLS and the Saudi Pro League are currently seen as the most realistic destinations for Pogba. Given his ties to Miami, Inter Miami’s star-studded roster, and the club’s proximity to his home, a move to the Florida club seems increasingly plausible.
