Novak Djokovic’s recent loss at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 worried his fans and opened a long debate. According to some insiders, the Serbian legend is now nearing the end of his career and the 2025 edition may have been his last appearance in California.

The former world No.1 received a very nice tribute from the crowd on the ‘Stadium 1’ after being eliminated by Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round, a tribute behind which many people saw a sort of farewell by Nole to a tournament in which he won five times.

The 37-year-old from Belgrade was genuinely heartbroken because of his performance, which was truly disastrous especially in the first and third sets.

Djokovic was very sad

Over the past year and a half, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has begun to struggle more and more to maintain his high enough level, and the number of his surprising defeats has increased worryingly.

Apart from the semi-final he reached at the Australian Open, his start to the season has fallen far short of expectations.

Not even the help of Andy Murray saved him at Indian Wells, although Novak has repeated several times that he gets along very well with the former Scottish champion and that he intends to continue working with him at least until Wimbledon.

After his poor performance in California, the Miami Open becomes even more important. Djokovic has lifted the trophy six times in Florida during his career, but has not played this tournament since 2019 (the first edition at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Through his official X profile, legendary coach Rick Macci urged fans not to underestimate a legend like Nole.

“He is not going anywhere as he has too much game not to be in the mix. It is all about his health and his mind. His mental strength and believe is why the Serbian Sniper stays calm under pressure and not Hyper” – Macci wrote.

He is not going anywhere as he has to much game not to be in the mix. It is all about his health and his mind. His mental strength and believe is why the Serbian Sniper stays calm under pressure and not Hyper. @DjokerNole
