Manchester United would like to secure the future of Kobbie Mainoo and to that end they’ve offered him a new contract, but according to the Guardian, the 19-year-old midfielder is currently leaning towards rejecting the offer and leaving the club this summer.
Negotiations between the player and the club have taken place but haven’t yet come close to an agreement, and unless there’s a significant breakthrough soon, the 20-time English champions would be open to a sale. They value his services at £70 million, with his current deal running until 2027 and with the club having the option to extend it by further 12 months.
Despite replacing Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim in the dugout this season, United haven’t been able to turn their fortunes around and currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table, level with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham, behind the likes of Brentford and Crystal Palace.
Mainoo has been one of few bright spots in the team at Old Trafford, but it appears he has lost faith that things would change at the club any time soon.
