Shoaib Malik resigns as PCB mentor – here’s the reason

The 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is underway, featuring some of the biggest names in golf. World #1 Scottie Scheffler and world #3 Rory McIlroy are making their 2025 PGA debuts, as we look at the Pebble Beach betting favorites.

$20,000,000 is up for grabs in this one, with $3,600,000 going to the winner. Each player has more to play for than just the money. Reputation, redemption, respect—it’s all on the line.

Scheffler the Betting Favorite

Scottie Scheffler comes into the tournament at +400 odds. Given his practice has been limited due to the hand injury he sustained while cooking ravioli for his family on Christmas, the odds are a bit on the high side. It’s hard to bet against Scottie, but it still feels like a long shot for someone who has been kept from using his hands for the past month.

Rory McIlroy Expected to Challenge

Rory, also making his 2025 debut, and comes in at the second highest odds to win, at +1100. While it’s been a while since Rory has had a dominant season, he’s always in the mix on the weekend—he should have a fair shot at this one.

We know this for sure: it’ll be fun seeing Scottie and Rory back out there.

Wyndham Clark Looks to Repeat

After a storybook finish last year, Wyndham Clark will have to brush off some inconsistent play as of late to defend his trophy. Clark shot a course-record 60 to finish round 3 last year, jumping from 23rd to 1st. When the rain came down and showed no signs of stopping, they called the tournament, and Clark left a champion.

Since the middle of last year, Clark’s record shows a mix of top-15 finishes and cuts—there’s not a whole lot of in-between for him. It’s as though he comes into each weekend either with it or without it. He’s going to have to really have it this weekend if he wants to defend.

Surging Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas is showing that he’s not down and out. Like Clark, you never know what you’re going to get with Justin Thomas out there. Sometimes he looks like the clear best out there; other times, he doesn’t look like he belongs (I think he’d agree). After shooting a 68 and a 63 to close out the Sentry, you could tell he had something going.

At the American Express, Thomas put out near-flawless work in his runner-up performance. Thomas is playing more confidently, more like himself, and more like the player we all know he can be. Don’t remind Justin, but it’s been since May of 2022 (yikes) since he felt the thrill of victory—we’ll see if things change this weekend at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

As the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is underway, there’s no question that this just feels like the season is getting started.
